Broiled Asian Prawn Sticks with Lime

Inspired by fish sticks and crab cakes, these prawn or shrimp sticks make a wonderful finger food entree that is delicious, easy, elegant, and unique. The splash of lime seriously brings out a burst of added flavor. Plus, they are a quick and easy recipe to prepare.

  • 1 pound Alaska spot prawns, peeled, deveined, and chopped
  • 3/4 cup panko bread crumbs
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 2 garlic cloves, grated
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 2 teaspoons soy sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Lime wedges

MIX SHRIMP AND BREAD CRUMBS

Mix together the shrimp and the bread crumbs in a large bowl.

MIX THE REMAINING INGREDIENTS

Mix together the egg, garlic, ginger, soy sauce, salt, and lime juice in a small bowl. Add this to the shrimp mixture; mix together gently.

FORM THE PRAWN STICKS

Divide into 12 balls. Shape the balls into sticks about 4 inches long by 1.5 inches wide. Place all on a prepared baking sheet.

BAKE

Place the baking sheet under a broiler. Cook 3 to 5 minutes, until a brown crust develops. Carefully turn the sticks over and cook an additional 3 to 5 minutes, until golden brown and shrimp is fully cooked.

SERVE

Serve with lime wedges. Optionally, serve with your favorite Asian sauce.
