Moist and Delicious Spelt Rolls

I have been experimenting with grains other then wheat and wanted to try out spelt. Spelt can be a bit tricky to work with, but I came up with this version of spelt rolls that my husband really enjoys.

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons warm water
  • 1/3 cup extra light olive oil
  • 1 package dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/2 teaspoon unrefined salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 3-1/2 cups Spelt flour

Step One

Preheat oven to 400 degrees

Step Two

In a large mixing bowl, combine water, oil, yeast, and sugar. Mix and let rest for fifteen minutes.

Step Three

Mix in salt, egg, and flour. Mix thoroughly and knead until smooth and soft.

Step Four

Separate dough into 12 balls and place in a greased 9x13 pan and let rest for ten minutes.

Step Five

Bake for twelve minutes, remove, and cool.
